Strategien Against the Map

The project is based on the assumption that the first logical reaction of a photographer when viewing a subject will be to bring out the camera and take a picture. In this project the artist tries to counteract this assumption by not using the camera as the first reaction. The first thing to do is to reproduce the sighted subject in a suitable form (except photography), to make a print, a copy or an abrasion or whatever the ideal means to capture the image is. The illustration was always on one page of the notebook. Only as a second step a photograph was taken of the trace. The result is a combination of images that are actually the same, but are perceived differently due to their different method of reproduction.
